Mention Sauvignon Blanc to wine lovers the world over and Marlborough springs to mind Yet 30 years ago the region was known only for barley and sheep. Marlborough's success story is one of the most remarkable in modern wine, and one in which Hunter’s can claim to have played a major part. Way back In 1986, invited by Laithwaites, they visited our London Wine Show, and won all the Golds and made headlines with their vibrant Sauvignon. Today the estate is run by Jane Hunter, herself a trained viticulturist. She has a string of accolades for her work, including an OBE and Companion of the NZ Order of Merit for viticulture. Winemaker today is Jane’s nephew James Macdonald. This is an extremely fresh and tropical fruit-led, Sauvignon Blanc made exclusively for us, delicious on its own, with seafood or spicy Thai.
