Flavour Profile
The Wine
Bill Taylor, grandfather of the current custodian, Mitchell, first set foot on the estate on the same day that Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, in 1969. Three generations later, Taylors has a worldwide reputation for excellence. In fact, in 2018 the estate was rated the ‘No. 1 Most Awarded Winery in the World’ out of over 50,000 producers by the prestigious World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists. The Heritage Release Shiraz was one of the Taylor family’s first two wines released in 1973 – the other was a Cabernet Sauvignon – after work began planting their Clare estate four years earlier. Created from two of the Taylors’ favourite estate blocks, the older Lodden Shiraz L11 and Angela Shiraz G60. You’ll revel in this rich and concentrated Shiraz, showing aromas of plum, blackberry, warm coconut cake and vanilla. The palate is a sumptuous treat of luscious fruit, spice and oak, with Clare’s trademark blueberry flavours flowing through to a long, layered finish. The wine contains 3.8% Malbec, bringing in a wild berry character. Matured in French (10%) and American (90%) oak for 12 months. Winner of three international Gold medals.
