Flavour Profile
The Wine
For over 20 years RedHeads have been making pioneering wines in various shed wineries across McLaren Vale and the Barossa. In that time they’ve picked up Trophies and over 100 Golds. Historically the dynamic RedHeads team has sought out the best growers to rescue small parcels of top-quality grapes for their wines. They still do, but they’ve put down roots in Angaston in the Barossa, with 8 hectares of vines and a new, ultra eco-friendly cellar. and this flagship Shiraz come from their own Barossa vineyard. The Saint Andrew’s Vineyard was first planted with Mataro, but these days it’s mostly Shiraz, and the oldest building at the site (and in the area) dates all the way back to 1888 when it was purchased by Heinrich Hermann. It has now been lovingly restored and is quite something to see. The winery itself has won a stream of environmental awards, it’s a tribute to the pioneering work of the RedHeads team and its unwavering commitment to continued sustainability. For the label, we sought inspiration from our early adopters in the new project. The names, are those of the people who first lent their support to this new Barossa project. Handcrafted and cask matured, this is an intensely flavoured red. Barossa at its best.
