Our great friend in Rioja, Javier Murúa, wanted to explore the great Albariño grape, so invested in a historic estate in its heartland Rías Baixas. Now you can taste the fruits of the project – a delicious, peachy white with roundness and freshness. 15 years ago the Murúa family decided to extend their portfolio to the cool hills of Galicia, northwest Spain. They purchased Bodegas Pazo Cilleiro in Rías Baixas, prized for its great Albariño wines. This historic estate was founded in the 11th century by monks from Bordeaux’s Abbey de Cluny. It lies in the hills of Val do Salnes, the birthplace of Albariño. Moderate temperatures, clear, sunny summer days, a strong influence from Atlantic breezes and granite, clay-rich and quartz soils are ideal for Albariño. The result is this delicious wine, with bright peach fruit and freshness. Ideal with seafood.
