“It’s not often a person becomes a legend in their own lifetime” says James Halliday of the man called the ‘Baron of Barossa’. His story and the acclaim his renowned estate commands are remarkable. Peter, who has sadly passed away, was born in 1930, the fifth generation of Barossa pioneers. He made his first wine aged 17, and earned a big name at some of Barossa’s finest estates. To safeguard the livelihood of growers, he opened his own cellar in the 1970s. A huge gamble that paid off big time. Halliday gives the estate his highest rating, 5 Red Stars, on top of the countless Trophies and Golds they have won so far.
