This mighty 95pt Cabernet is one of a trio of reds which make up d’Arenberg’s expertly crafted Icon range. It's stylish and suave, highlights of viole
This mighty 95pt Cabernet is one of a trio of reds which make up d’Arenberg’s expertly crafted Icon range. Established in 1912, d’Arenberg is owned by the Osborn family, founding members of Australia’s First Families of Wine, and headed by the charismatic Chester Osborn. As James Halliday notes, d’Arenberg “has kept its 100-year-old heritage while moving into the 21st century with flair and elan”. Countless awards every year attest to the quality, and just last year they won Winery of the Year and Wine of the Year at the London Wine Competition. “ A steadfast wine, built to be cellared, and an impressive one… 95pts” (Halliday Wine Companion, Campbell Mattinson). To 2035.

Enjoy d'Arenberg's regal thoroughbred Shiraz – the mighty Thunderstep. The 2019 shows an array of dark fruit flavours – plums, blackberries and bluebe
A founding member of the First Families of Australian Wine, d’Arenberg was established in 1912, when Joseph Osborn funded his new winery by selling his beloved racehorses. Thunderstep was one of them. An imposing, powerful race horse and father to Footbolt, the pride of Joseph Osborn’s stable (and now the name of one of the estate’s most iconic and ‘original’ reds). Today, the colourful Chester Osborn (below), fourth generation, is at its helm, and it “has kept its 100-year-old heritage while moving into the 21st century with flair and elan” (Halliday). It boasts one of the world’s most innovative cellar door experiences and an unparalleled, exciting range. Thunderstep is a superb addition. The 2019 shows an array of dark fruit flavours – plums, blackberries and blueberries – edged with notes of black pepper, dark chocolate, bay leaf and fennel. Complex and concentrated. Scored Double Gold at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition.

James Halliday Wine Companion
“Nothing, they say, succeeds like success. Few operations in Australia fit this dictum better than d’Arenberg, which has kept its almost 100-year-old
Witches Berry (aka Belladonna) is a vineyard weed that was famously used to make women’s eyes appear darker and larger. “Nothing, they say, succeeds like success. Few operations in Australia fit this dictum better than d’Arenberg, which has kept its almost 100-year-old heritage while moving into the 21st century with flair and elan...” (Halliday). “An engaging, impeccably crafted warm-climate chardonnay, managing a sluice of tension as much as generosity of flavour. Honeydew melon, white peach, fig and a core of nougat teem across a crisp, mid-weighted frame. The oak, nestled nicely. The acidity, a bit perky but them’s the breaks... 91pts” (Halliday Wine Companion, Ned Goodwin, MW).
